W. Hollis Harward

W. Hollis Harward, 84, of Douds died at 9:15 p.m. July 21, 1990 at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born Sept. 7, 1905, in Eldon, to George W. and Mabel Furtney Harward. He married Ethel L. Thomas on June 26, 1929, in Ottumwa. She died March 2, 1990.

He graduated from Eldon High School and farmed near Douds for 50 years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Fairfield.

He is survived by a daughter, Yvonne E. Johnson of Des Moines; a son, Bob L. of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold of Sacramento, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George.

The service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 1990 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial was in Leando Cemetery in Douds.
