1990 NO 1Louise Balmer
Louise Balmer, age 97, resident of the Ottumwa Manor, died Friday, October 25, 1990 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Born July 18, 1893 at Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Alexander and Minnie Steinbarger Daum.
She grew up in Burlington and married William F. Balmer on June 5, 1923 at Burlington. She lived in the Bonaparte and Stockport communities prior to going to the Ottumwa Manor.
Mrs. Balmer was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church and the Woods Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Glen, one daughter, Virginia Muntz, and two grandchildren, David Granaman and Kevin Balmer.
Surviving are a daughter, Mildred Sweetnam of Laurel Maryland; three sons, Bob Granaman of Hedrick, Bill Balmer of Bloomfield, and Dale Balmer of Ames; 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 29, 1990 at the Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with Reverend Sara Malone officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the activity fund at the Ottumwa Manor or to the memorial of the donor's choice.
