Herb Gard, 50, Bonaparte, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack at 8:25 p.m. Monday, August 13, 1990 at his home.
Mr. Gard was born March 3, 1940 at Ravenwood, Missouri. He had lived in Bonaparte for 25 years and was employed at Blue Bird Midwest in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Bonaparte Baptist Church.
On October 25, 1960 at Red Oak, he married Edith Gebbie, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David of Des Moines and Jeff of Bonaparte; two daughters, Diane Peterson, Bonaparte and Deborah Benedict, Fort Madison; three brothers, Ralph of West Burlington, Leo of Corning, and Paul of New Jersey; a sister, Nell Peterson, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Marie Sleeth Gard, a brother and a sister.
Services were held August 16, 1900 at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington. Rev. Larry Wagner officiated. Burial was in Bonaparte Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Bonaparte First Responders.
A special thanks to the Bonaparte EMTs, Dr. Breckenridge, the hospital and to our many friends for all their acts of kindness at the time of our loss.
