Ethel M. Rubey

STOCKPORT - Ethel M. Rubey, 78, rural Stockport, died at 9:19 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 1990, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville with the Rev. Paul Thoms officiating. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery at Germanville. Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.Sunday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Memorials have been established to Hope Lutheran Church, Stockport Library and Stockport First Responders.

Mrs. Rubey was born Jan. 27, 1912, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Alex and Josephine Stortz Schlarbaum. She married Roy H. Rubey July 14, 1932, in Monmouth, Ill. He died Dec. 1984. A homemaker, she had lived most of her life in Jefferson County, living in the Stockport community since 1975. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Grace M. Askam and Linda K. Meeks, both of Muscatine, Shirley M. Reschly of Medford, Ore., Mary L. James of Boise, Idaho; a son, Ralph H. of Stockport; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson and a sister, Dorothy Vorhies of Lockridge. Her parents and a granddaughter preceded her in death.
