Irene Coral Darland Beatty, daughter of Lacey Otto and Ethel Mae Aurand Darland, was born March 25, 1908 near New Sharon, Iowa and departed this life Saturday night, February 3, 1990 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 81.
She moved near Barnes City when young and attended school there.
She was married to Frank Bernard Beatty on December 25, 1927 at Montezuma, Iowa. They moved to Oskaloosa in June 1928. On July 4, 1985, they moved to Country Lane Apartments in Keosauqua, after living in the same house in Oskaloosa for over fifty-seven years.
She belonged to Endeavor Circle of King's Daughters in Oskaloosa for 37 years, was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa for several years, then transferred to Keosauqua United Methodist Church October 2, 1988. She had been a member of Credo Circle, United Methodist Women in Oskaloosa and later became a member of United Methodist Women in Keosauqua.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant sons, Leonard LeRoy and Baby, a sister, Iva Van Deventer and three brothers, Dale, Estel, and Donovan Darland.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Lester Findley, Jr. of Milton, two grandsons, Lester Grant Findley, III and Kevin Frank Findley of Milton, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 6, 1990 at 1 P.M. in Keosauqua United Methodist Church with Rev. Lester Terlouw officiating. Interment was in Union Mills Cemetery southeast of New Sharon. A memorial was established for Keosauqua United Methodist Church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
