NAUVOO, Ill. - Lewis Hummel, 67, of Nauvoo, died at 8:20 p.m. Feb. 10, in the Veteran's Hospital, Iowa City.

He was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Niota, Ill., the son of Leon and Emily Mackie Hummel. He married Lois Marie Sanders on June 30, 11946, in Nauvoo. She preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 1988.

He was a veteran of World War II and attended the Nauvoo Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his mother of Montrose; daughter Janis L. Meier of Springfield, Ill.; son Charles Hummel of Farmington; brothers Lester Hummel of Keokuk and Loren Hummel of Berrien Springs, Mich.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lamporte Funeral Home in Nauvoo with Pastor Mary Bower officiating.

Burial will be full military rites, will be in the Thornber Cemetery, Powelton, Ill.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lalmporte Funeral Home in Nauvoo and the family will meet with friends from 7-9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation.
