Albert Neis

Albert L. Neis, 70, of 1521 Silverwood, Ottumwa, Iowa, died April 14, 1989, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

He was born June 13, 1918 in Keosauqua to James 13, 1918 in Keosauqua to James L. and Amy O. Lazenby Neis. A resident of Ottumwa since 1945, he was employed at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a graduate of Keosauqua High School in 1936 and a member of United Auto Workers 74, Izaak Walton League, Ducks Unlimited, National Rifle Association, American Association of Retired Persons and a lifetime member of Iowa Trapshooting Association. He served with the Navy in World War II and was a member of O.B. Nelson opt 3 of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He married Maxine Schwartz on July 7, 1941, in Memphis, Mo.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Janice Wagner of Lockridge, Jon of Ottumwa, Route 4 and Jerry of Ottumwa, Route 4 and Jerry of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson.

The service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 1989 at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Margaret Butler of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating. Burial was Shaul Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association in care of Victoria Yetley, 1332 N. Elm, Ottumwa, or donor's choice.
