Morris LeRoy Evans

Morris LeRoy Evans, 44, 603 E. Clay, Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 1989, at his home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1945, in Cairo, Iowa, the son of Phillip and Nellie Lucille Pontzius Evans.

He was a graduate of the Mt. Pleasant Community High School and had served with the Air Force in Vietnam 1968-69. For the past 12 years, he had been employed with the Midwest Old Threshers Association. He had also worked for the Superior Cable Co., Mt. Pleasant.

Surviving are his mother, Mt. Pleasant; three brothers: George Edward, Keosauqua; Arthur William, Mt. Pleasant; and Ralph Ed, Burlington; and three sisters: Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Johanson and Mrs. Phyllis Plummer, Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Gordon (Lucille) Self, Smithville, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the Congregational-Universalist Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Charles Edwards officiating. Interment will be in Wapello Cemetery, Wapello.

Friends may call as desired to sign the register at the Beatty-Wilkins, Mt. Pleasant. The casket will remain closed.

The family will receive friends at the church following services. A memorial has been established to the Henry County Ambulance Service.
