Harold Howard dies in California

BIRMINGHAM - Harold Howard, 78, Sacramento, Calif., formerly of the Mount Zion community in Van Buren County, died Thursday, March 24, 1988, in Sacramento.

The service will be held in California, followed by cremation. The ashes will be returned to Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham for graveside rites in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham. The time will be announced later.

Howard was born March 5, 1910, on the family farm near Mount Zion, south of Birmingham, the son of Samuel and Lena Howard. He moved to California 40 years ago, had lived in Lake Tahoe, Calif., and for the last 10 years in Nevada City, Calif. He had worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company. He married Ethel Howard, who survives.

Also surviving are five brothers and one sister, Percy of Birmingham, Richard, Craig, Wendell and Forrest, and Lena Woolever, all of the state of California.
