Herman Van Weelden, son of John and Lyntje Van Weelden, was born June 14, 1904 in The Netherlands and died Monday morning, March 28, 1988 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 83.
He came to the United States with his family at the age of 12.
He married Frona Wolver, September 13, 1924. They lived in Marion County and in Keosauqua.
Mr. Van Weelden was a retired mechanic and welder. He had attended the Berean Baptist Church in Pella.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Louise Terlouw and Doris Humble of Douds; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Dick of Monroe, and a sister, Ann VanderWerff of Pella. A son, John Dale, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
A memorial service was held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua, with Reverend Lester Terlouw officiating. The funeral was Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Reverend Larry Terlouw officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetry, Keosauqua.
Memorials to the Good Samaritan Center Van Fund may be left at the funeral home.
