Lucille H. Ellis

Mrs. Karl (Lucille) Heaton Ellis, 89, of 805 Pine St. Place, Mt. Pleasant, died 7:55 a.m. Monday, May we, 1988 at the Henry County Health Center.

She was born Jan. 1, 1899 near Webster, the daughter of William H. and Stella Morgan Heaton.

She was married July 23, 1927 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua to Dr. R. Karl Ellis.

She graduated from Coe College in 1921 and afterward attended the University of Wisconsin and the University of Iowa.

She taught school in Kalona, Webster, Lone Tree, Stockport and Northwood high schools and also at Iowa Wesleyan College. She also worked in occupational therapy at state hospitals in Fulton, Mo., and Mt. Pleasant for eight years.

She was a member of James Harlan chapter Daughters of the American Revolution; Daughters of American Colonists; Colonial Dames XVII Century; the Mothers Club; Iowa Wesleyan Circle; Westminster Dames, Fulton, Mo.; Travel Department of the Womans Club; American Association for Retired Persons; Retired Teachers Association; Sans Souci; First Presbyterian Church; and several church organizations in Mt. Pleasant and Fulton, Mo.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Dr. William G. Ellis of Davis, Calif. and R. Wendell Ellis, Minneapolis, Minn.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Orville.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating.

Interment will be in Sorden Cemetery in Webster.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 Tuesday evening at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her name to the First Presbyterian Chruch.
