Margaret J. Housholder

Margaret J. Householder, 77, resident of Dubois, Idaho since 1954, died April 7, 1988 at an Idaho Falls nursing home following a lengthy illness.

She was born December 22, 1910 at Farmington, Iowa to John and Nancy Morland Hassler. She grew up and attended schools there. After graduating, she taught school for five years in a one-room country schoolhouse in the Farmington area.

She married Stanley Housholder on October 11, 1931 at Carthage, Illinois. In 1942, they moved to Plymouth, Illinois, where they farmed for six years. In 1948 they moved to Bonaparte, Iowa where they purchased a farm. They lived there until 1954 they moved to Bonaparte, Iowa where they purchased a farm. They lived there until 1954 when they moved to Idaho, purchasing a farm in the Dubois area.

She was a member of the Dubois Community Baptist Church and a member of Bright Star Chapter 59 of the Order of Eastern Star at Dubois. She served as worthy matron of the chapter in 1968-69.

Survivors include her husband of Dubois; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Joanne) Shenton of Dubois and Mrs. Jeanne Johnston of Eugene, Oregon; a son, John Housholder of Canyon Country, California; two brothers, Vern Hassler of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Lynn Hassler of Grants Pass, Oregon; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Her funeral service was conducted April 7, 1988 in the Dubois Community Baptist Church by the Reverend James Puz. Eastern Star memorial rites were by Bright Star Chapter 59. The family suggests memorials to Bright Star Chapter No. 59, Order of Eastern Star or the Dubois Community Baptist Church. Burial was in the Dubois Cemetery under the direction of Buck-Sullivan Funeral Home of Idaho Falls.
