John R. Cutler

John R. Cutler, son of Frank and Julia Hobbin Cutler, was born March 17, 1925 near Donnellson and died the morning of Friday, May 13, 1988 at his home in Fairfield at the age of 63.

He moved as a youth with his family to Van Buren County and graduated from Cantril High School. He farmed, worked at Barker Wire Products Co. in Keosauqua, and was a lay minister in the Free Methodist Church. He was a member of the Birmingham Free Methodist Church.

John married Rosalie Swalwell June 6, 1949 in Farmington.

Surviving are his wife with their two sons, Gary of Mt. Erie, Ill. and John Allen of Montgomery, Ala., and four daughters, Rosemary Johnston, Wichita, Kansas; Nancy McNabb, Milton; Lois Lewis, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; and Carol Martin, Cincinnati, Ohio. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, a brother, Ed Cutler, Milton, two sisters, Cathlene Bostock and Nell Satterly, both of Farmington, other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, David, and a brother, Frank (Jr.).

Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, 1988 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Robert Kelly and Rev. Dean Grant officiating. Interment was in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington. A memorial was established.
