Poplejoy funeral Friday

PLEASANT PLAIN - Ella Popejoy, 89, died Tuesday, April 5, 1988, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, where she had been a resident since October 1978.

She was born Feb. 27, 1899, in Cedar Township near Birmingham, the daughter of Emsley and Carrie Giberson Canaday. She was married to Bernard Mathias Popejoy June 18, 1919, in Fairfield.

She was a farmwife and moved to the Pleasant Plain area in 1930. Her husband died July 14, 1969. She was a member of the Pleasant Plain Friends Church.

Surviving are two sons, Jack and Bill of Pleasant Plain; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by all five of her brothers and eight sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Rick Talbot officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hilld Cemetery at Birmingham.

Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Parkview Care Center.
