Idella J. Black

Idella J. Black, 54, of 225 N. McLean died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1987, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born April 30, 1933, in Ottumwa to Leonard and Ethel Sallee Baxter. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She married Robert Paul Black Sr. on April 4, 1964, in Ottumwa. He died in March of 1987.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Jr. of Milton and Michael of Ottumwa; her mother, Margaret Ethel Baxter of Seattley, Wash.; four daughters, Laura Laumeyer and Susan Guiter of Ottumwa, Myra Martin of Bloomfield and Marilyn Naill of Milton; three brothers, Robert and Wayne Baxter of Seattle, Wash. and Jack Baxter of Texas; two sisters, Effie Balda and Collee Phillips of Seattle, Wash.; and 14 grandchildren.

The service was Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1987 at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home, the Rev. A.D. Pringle of Ottumwa Baptist Temple and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary officiating. Burial was in Shaul Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
