James R. (Dick) Fisher

Dick Fisher, 74, of rural Keosauqua, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1987, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, following a short illness.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 1987 at Jones Funeral Home, Washington, Iowa, with interment at Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington. Mr. Fisher was a life-long lover of books and reading, and a memorial fund has been established for the Keosauqua Public Library.

James Richard Fisher was born March 29, 1913, in 76 Twp., Washington, Co., Iowa, the son of Walter and Anna Hennon Fisher. He graduated from Keota H.S. in 1932 and married Oneita Griggs on Jan. 12, 1935, at Washington. He moved to Keosauqua in 1976, after having spent most of his life in the West Chester Community. He was a long-time employee of Sitler's in Washington, and in later years became known for his skill at repairing and refinishing antique furniture.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Kathy, of Keosauqua, a son, Ron, of Springfield, Va., one brother, Harold and one sister, Phyllis (Mrs. Gale) Reif, both of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
