Ralph M. Johnston

Ralph M. Johnston, 91, of Birmingham, died at 7:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1987, at the Parkview Care Center, Fairfield.

Born June 30, 1896, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Reuben and Mary McKee Johnston. He married Ava Clark Nov. 6, 1917, at the home of her parents. She died Jan. 17, 1984.

He was a farmer all of his life. He was a member of the Birmingham United Presbyterian Church and the Van Buren County Historical Society.

Surviving are three sons, Donald Johnston, Fairfield, Wesley Johnston, Burlington and Charles Johnston, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sisters, Roberta Mahon, Birmingham, and Mary Elson, Venton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Burch-Raymond Funeral Home, Birmingham.

The service for Mr. Johnston will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Burch-Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.

Memorials have been established for the Birmingham United Presbyterian Church and the Parkview Care Center activity fund.
