Loren Lazenby rites Friday

BIRMINGHAM - Loren Wilford Lazenby, 86, died at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, where he had lived since November, 1977.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Birmingham United Methodist Church with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home. Visitation will follow. Memorials have been established to the Rowley Memmorial Masonic Home and the Birmingham United Methodist Church.

Lazenby was born July 12, 1900 in Hillsboro, the son of John F. and Katie Priestley Lazenby. He married Lois Elizabeth McLain May 21, 1925 in Mount Pleasant. She died Feb. 19, 1968.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty Skaggs, Fairfield; a son, Larry, Burlington; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Lazenby had lived most of his life in the Birmingham community, attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, and taught math and coached at Bonaparte and Birmingham high schools. He was manager of the Birmingham Locker Plant and past president of the State Locker Association. He retired from Dexter Company and had been a member of the International Association of Machinists. He was a 50-year member of Clinton Masonic Lodge 15 AF and AM at Fairfield and a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church.
