John Valentine Lowenberg

John Valentine Lowenberg, 95, of Donnellson, died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Donnellson Manor Care Center.

He was born Aug. 17, 1891, north of Donnellson, the son of Valentin and Anna Schnebele Lowenberg. He married Delight Laura Krehbiel on Jan. 26, 1919, in Donnellson.

He had been a lifelong resident of Farmington and was a retired farmer and a member of the Zion Mennonite Chruch.

Survivors include his wife; sons John S. of Ames, Iowa and Richard A. of Iowa City, Iowa; brother, Arnold of Donnellson; sister Emma Alexander of Long Beach, Calif.; six granddaughters, two grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, one granddaughter, and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Zion Mennonite Church with the Rev. Timothy Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Mennonite Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 7:30-8:30 p.m. tonight at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Mennonite Cemetery.
