Bernard D. Pruett

Bernard D. Pruett, 64, of 1335 37th St., Ft. Madison, died at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

Born June 6, 1912, in Arbela, Mo., he was the son of Kester and Vera Duley Pruett. O June 1, 1945, in Farmington, he married Ruth Bailey. She died in February 1964. On July 1, 1967, in Fort Madison, he married Mary Herrmuth Spiesz.

Mr. Pruett was a correctional officer at the Iowa State Penitentiary with 33 years of service. He was a member of the Santa Fe United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, Fort Madison; his mother, Vera Pruett, Fort Madison; one daughter, Mrs. Janet (Fred) Bindewald, Houston, Texas; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Sharon (Ron) Meierotto, Donnellson; three brothers, James Pruett, Fort Madison, Richard Pruett, Montrose, and Harold Pruett, Albuqueque(sp), N.M.; one sister, Mrs. Evonne (Junior) McKinney, Farmington; and one granddaughter and two step-granddaughters.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the King-Lynk Funeral Home, Fort Madison. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Services for Mr. Pruett will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Santa Fe United Methodist Church with Dr. Raymond Boulter officiating. Burial wil be in Oakland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Santa Fe United Methodist Church.
