Floyd McCarty

Floyd McCarty, 76, of Salem, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at home.

Born April 30, 1910, at Keosauqua, he was the son of Michael and May Soper McCarty. In 1927 he married Anna Stonehouse. He was a retired farmer and had been employed by the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington.

Surviving are four sons, Donald, Salem, Kenneth, Lockridge, Michael, Norwalk, Calif., Melvin, Huntsville, Texas; four daughters, Lois Roe, Orange, Calif., Ruth Strickland, Long Beach, Calif., Virginia Savage, Albia, and Carolyn Posey, Cerretos, Calif.; three brothers, Francis, of Burlington, Michael, Red Wing, Minn., John, of San Francisco, Calif.; two sisters, Bertha Humphrey, Keosauqua, and Florence Brerends, Ackley; and 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant.

Services for Mr. McCarty will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant, with the Reverenc Wayne Conant officiating. Burial will be at Forbes Cemetery north of Keosauqua.

A memorial has been established to Young House Family services.
