Rites held today for Brown

DOUDS - Services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at Lake Lotawana Community Methodist Church for the Rev. LaMonte C. Brown, 74, of Lake Lotawana, Mo. He died Saturday morning at Lee's Summit Community Hospital at Lee's Summit, Mo. He was a former resident of Douds and Eddyville.

Burial was in Floral Hill Cemetery at Kansas City, Mo. A memorial has been established to his church. Langsford Funeral Home at Lee's Summit was in Charge of arrangements.

Brown was born March 14, 1913, at Fremont, Neb., the son of Edmund and Margaret Harris Brown. He was a graduate of Garrett Theological Seminary at Evanston, Ill. He served United Methodist parishes in Iowa including the Douds-Lebanon-Selma circuit from which he retired in 1977. His wife, the Rev. Helen Brown, succeeded him and they moved Eddyville where she was pastor. He was a member of Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church and the Optimists.

Brown is survived by his wife; two sons, Gary of Creston and Randy of Lee's Summit; and eight grandchildren.
