Ethel M. Kirkhart

Ethel M. Kirkhart, daughter of John and Melissa Koontz Bingaman, was born July 19, 1892 in Monroe County near Lovilia and died early the morning of Friday, April 3, 1987 at Van Buren Center, Keosauqua, at the age of 94.

She grew up in the Lebanon community and married John Kirkhart December 24, 1913 at her parents' home near Lebanon and Cantril. He died in 1963. Two brothers, Dennis and Charles Bingaman and two sisters, Sylvia Wells and Lenna Strait also preceding her in death.

Surviving are a son, Joe and his wife Betty of Cantril, two grandchildren, Roger Kirkhart and wife, Donna, Milton and Joyce Kirkhart, Ft. Madison, and three great grandchildren, Joey, Mindi and Bryan Kirkpatrick. Also surviving are a brother, Donald Bingaman, Douds and two sisters, Greta Rider, Keosauqua and Lula Hedge, North English, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kirkhart was a member of the Cantril United Methodist Church and had been active in the American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 6, 1987 at 11 a.m. at the Cantril United Methodist Church with Rev. Andrew Rebenking and Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. Memorials were established for the Cantril United Methodist Church and the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
