Silas A. Buck

Silas A. Buck, 74, 2905 Ave J, died at 12:55 p.m. Monday, April 6, at Fort Madison Community Hospital. He had been falling health several years and seriously ill two weeks.

Mr. Buck was born Sept. 7, 1912, at Bolivar, Mo., and had lived in Fort Madison 47 years. He was a retired serviceman for the former Benbow Coal Co. with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Santa Fe United Methodist Church.

On May 29, 1939, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa, he married Alma Mae Jones, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Jeanie) Haffner, rural Farmington; a brother, Harry Buck, Mountain Home, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Leola) Koss, Burlington, and Mrs. Otto (Irene) Neu, Denmark; two grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Buck. His parents were Merrill and Dorothy Sharp Buck.

The body is at the Barr Memorial Chapel where final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Dr. Raymond Boulter will officiate. Burial will be in Hill Crest Memorial Park.

Friends may call until time of the service at the Barr Memorial Chapel where they family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

A memorial is being established. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
