Erma E. Duncan

Erma E. Duncan, 89, of Iowa City, died Saturday at St. Paul's Health Care Center in San Diego, Calif.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. R. David Fillpot will officiate. No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated. Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Duncan was born Oct. 8, 1897, in Stockport, daughter of Lute Wallace and Iowa Rose Dodds. She married S. Lysle Duncan Aug. 7, 1926, in Monmouth. He died Sept. 24, 1975. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids from 1934 until 1944 when they moved to Iowa City. They retired to Laguna Hills, Calif. in 1972.

Mrs. Duncan was active in several organizations while in Iowa City, including the First Presbyterian Church, PEO and the Athens Reading Circle. She was one of the River Heights subdivision and an ardent gardener.

She is survived by three sons; Richard of Iowa City, Edward of Adrian, Mich., and Robert of San Diego; one brother, Harvey Dodds of Stockport; two sisters, Lura Strong and Fanchon Dodds, both of Aurora, Ill.; and seven grandchildren. Two sisters and five brothers died earlier.
