Roy R. Cole Sr.

Roy R. Cole Sr., 74 of Lake Ponderosa, Montezuma, Iowa died Sunday a.m., April 26 at Grinnell General Hospital of pneumonia.

He was born November 3, 1912 at Troy, Iowa to Charles Wesley and Jennie Janetta Zachau Cole.

He is survived by seven sons, Harold Cole of Reardon, Wash., Virgil Cole, Keosauqua, Iowa, Lloyd Cole of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Ralph Cole, Montezuma, Iowa, Richard Cole, Newton and La Vene F. Cole Sr., Newton and one daughter, Arlene (Mrs. Robert) Gaskell, Mt. Zion, Iowa, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Raymond Fern Cole, Birmingham and Lester Ivan Cole, Galiton, Mo and two sisters, Verla Mae Wolf, Keosauqua and Ruth Vivian Manning, Cantril, Iowa.

He was a member of the VFW Post No. 1655 and participated in the firing squad.

Services were held Wednesday, April 29, 1987 at 9 a.m. at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home with Rev. A. B. Sudbrock, Pastor of Baptist Temple of Newton officiating. Burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery, Pittsburg, Iowa.
