Roscoe N. Hughes

KEOSAUQUA - Roscoe N. Hughes, 78, Pittsburg, Ia., died at 4:21 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield.

Mr. Hughes was born March 14, 1909, near Bonaparte and spent most of his life in Van Burn County. He farmed and later was a mechanic for many years was a mechanic at Davidson Motor Co. in Keosauqua. He was the first custodian at Austin Park, a county-owned facility near Pittsburg.

On March 23, 1939, in Fort Madison he married Maxine Elliott, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronald (Zip) Hughes, Marion, Ia., and Don Hughes, Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Roxie Bollinger, Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Reginal Hughes, Los Gatos, Calif., and Rex Hughes, Custer, S.D.; two sisters, Lenora Peacock, Keosauqua, and Louise Wolf, Fort Madison; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Keosauqua United Methodist Church. The Rev. Don Morrison will officiate. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery near Keosauqua.

The body is at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, where the family will meet friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

A memorial is being established. Contributions may be made at the funeral home.
