Dwight L. McCracken

Dwight L. McCracken, son of Jo and Mamie Liming McCracken, was born February 16, 1906 near Bentonsport and departed this life the morning of Wednesday, June 3, 1987, at Scotland County Nursing Home, Memphis, Missouri at the age of 81.

He lived his life in Van Buren County except for two years in Montana. He farmed and worked a number of years at Cantril Lumber Co.

On December 31, 1927 he married Hazel Hammans at Keosauqua.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Dolores Cole of Cantril; four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Mark of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Stuart of Great Falls, Montana; two sisters, Esther Loeffler and Velda Murphy, both of Keosauqua.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 7, 1987 at 3 p.m. at the Cantril United Methodist Church with Rev. Lester Terlouw officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial was established.
