Harley F. Shipley

Harley F. Shipley, son of Charles and LaVelle Shipley, was born November 27, 1929 near Batavia and departed this life the afternoon of Friday, June 19, 1987 at his home west of Birmingham at the age of 83.

He married Ila Brandt November 27, 1929 at Shelbina, Missouri, and they lived their entire life on the same farm.

During his active life, Harley farmed and was professional painter.

Surviving are his wife; twin daughters, Viola Shipley at home and Violet Findlay, Fairfield; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Harley R. Shipley, died June 12. Five brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 22, 1987 at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds. A memorial was established.
