Paul Laverne Brown

Paul LaVerne, age 65, of Stockport, Iowa, died at 6:29 P.M. Wednesday, April 22, 1987, at University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born December 30, 1921 in Van Buren County, Iowa, the son of Ora H. and Anna Wilson Brown. He married Ruth Bradfield, December 30, 1940 at Keosauqua, Iowa.

He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Stockport Christian Church serving as an elder for several years. He was also a World War II veteran. Member of the Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147 of the American Legion having served in the infantry in the European theatre of war 1944-1945.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, five sons and three daughters: Kenneth and Kermit of Stockport; Keith of Rochester, N.Y.; Kent of Brooklyn, Iowa; Kevin of Manchester, Mo.; Karyl (Mrs. Donald) Adam, Manchester Mo.; Karen (Mrs. Larry) Wells, Des Moines, Iowa and Kristine (Mrs. Larry) Cass, Stockport.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, one brother and five sisters: Dale of Hillsboro, Florence Keller and Irene Tomkins, Fairfield, Edna Briden and Vera Knowles of Stockport and Marie Kisling of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lester and Forrest.

Funeral services for Paul I. Brown were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April w5, 1987 at the Stockport Christian Church, Stockport, Iowa, with Robert Butt officiating. Burial with military rites was in Spencer Cemetery.

Memorials to First Responders of Stockport and the Stockport Christian Church.

Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield was in charge of arrangements.
