Ida I. Wixom was born November 25, 1910 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Levi and Viola Corbet Spooner, and departed this life late the evening of Saturday, May 23, 1987 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 76.

She attended Clinton schools and lived most of her life in the Clinton area until moving to Bonaparte about 30 years ago.

Mrs. Wixom was a member of the Bonaparte United Church, a 50-year member of Clinton Chapter No. 65 Order of Eastern Star and a member of the P.E.O., T.T.T., Mariners and Lionels, all of Bonaparte and the Bonaparte Historical Society.

She married Cecil Wixom November 15, 1947 in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Wixom died in 1974. Seven brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Grace Harris of Cedar Rapids and Peggy Carstensen of Clinton; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Lois Jech, Clinton and a brother, Arza Spooner, Sterling, Illinois.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 26, 1987 at 11 a.m. in the Bonaparte United Church with Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Interment was in Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua was in charge of arrangements. Memorials to her church may be sent in care of the funeral home.
