Henry Ash rites Wednesday

LIBERTYVILLE - Henry Ash, 75, died Monday at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney with the Rev. Mary Ann Bernard officiating. Burial will be in Doggett Cemetery near Sigourney. A memorial has been established. The family will be at the funeral home this evening.

Ash was born May 4, 1912 south of Hedrick in Wapello County, the son of Henry and Ailcie Grissom Ash. He attended county schools in Keokuk County. A laborer, he worked for John Morrell and Company, and as a steel founder, and also farmed. He married Lizzie Keasling in Sigourney on March 21, 1933.

Surviving are his wife of Libertyville; four daughters, Darlene Lain, Aquwaka, Ill.; Madlene Carter, Kitty Ash, both of Libertyville; Patty Victory, Hillsboro; two sons, Melvin, Douds; Bobby, Libertyville; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clifford, Middletown. Two daughters, a son, two brothers, two sisters, a grandson and a great-grandson preceded him in death.
