John Kenneth Countryman

John Kenneth Countryman, son of John and Rhoda Gableman Countryman, was born July 29, 1913 in Van Buren county and departed this life the afternoon Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1987 at University Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 74.

Kenneth spent most of his life farming in the Douds community, retiring to Fairfield in 1981.

He married Dorothy Morris Cohenour June 4, 1949 in Burlington.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, two daughters, Janet Breeding and her husband, Dennis, of Choctaw, Okla. and Nellie Fisher and her husband, Lonnie, of Bettendorf, a step-daughter, Nancy King and her husband, Jim, of Rantoul, Ill. and step-son, Larry Cohenour of Davenport.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, John Paul Breeding and Steven, Melissa and David Fisher, four step-grandchildren, Rex and Terry King, Phaedra Cohenour and Chris McHugh, two sisters, Irma Bachman, Bloomfield and Gratia Hoffman and her husband, Ed, Denver, Colol., a brother, Winton Countryman, Fairfield, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 11, 1987 at 1:30 P.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. A memorial was established for the heart fund.
