Johnston rites Monday

KEOSAUQUA - Winona A. Johnston, 59, died at 8:07 a.m. Thursday at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lebanon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Daniel and the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation is open at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Memorials to Mrs. Johnston's church or the Cancer Fund may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Linn and Nellie Mecham Beatty, Mrs. Johnston was born Oct. 2, 1926 at Mt. Zion. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1944 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College at Mt. Pleasant. She taught in several rural schools in Van Buren County. On March 5, 1948, she married Paul E. Johnston at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They farmed in Van Buren County. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Kenneth, and a daughter, Nadine Miller, both of Keosauqua; three grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Craig of Milton and Eleanor Strait of Keosauqua.

Winona Johnston

KEOSAUQUA - Winona A. Johnston, 59, died at 8:07 a.m. Feb. 27, 1986, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

She was born Oct. 2, 1926, at Mount Zion to Linn and Nellie Mecham Beatty. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1944 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant. She taught in rural schools in Van Buren County. She married Paul E. Johnston March 5, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed in Van Buren County. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and the UMW.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Kenneth of Keosauqua; a daughter, Nadine Miller of Keosauqua; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Craig of Milton and Eleanor Strait of Keosauqua.
