Keosauqua native murdered in Texas

KEOSAUQUA - Dallas, Texas, police are investigating the murder Friday of Keosauqua native Teresa Ann Linn Dickinson, 24, during a robbery her home in Dallas.

The woman's body was found in her home in Dallas. The cause of death was strangulation.

She was the wife of Leo G. Dickinson, former Birmingham resident. Dickinson had been out of town on business and learned of his wife's death when he returned home.

Mrs. Dickinson was the daughter of Orris and Margaret Bartholomew Linn of rural Keosauqua.

She was born July 19, 1961, in Keosauqua and graduated as valedictorian of the Van Buren Community High School Class of 1979. She served as governor of Girls State for 1978-79. Mrs. Dickinson attended the University of Iowa for three years and graduated as an honor student from Oregon State University.

She married Dickinson June 25, 1983 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield. They lived in Oregon for three years before moving to Dallas in April.

Mrs. Dickinson was a registered dietitian and worked in hospitals teaching doctors about biofeed-back. Her husband worked for Electronic Data Systems and had been in a three-month training program in New Jersey.

Formerly a member of St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon, she was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon, she was a member of the American Dietetics Association, Portland Dietetics Association, Home Economics in Business Association and currently was in private practice for Neuro-Systems Inc., of Dallas.

At the University of Iowa, she was president of the SMS-AHEA in 1982, and was a member of Omicron Nu, the Home Economics Honor Society, and Phi Epsilon Omicron.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she is survived by a brother, Larry Linn of Fairfield; two sisters: Cheryl Ridgeway of Keosauqua and Sandra Linn of Ottumwa; a grandmother, Marie Bartholomew of Keosauqua; two nephews and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and her maternal grandfather.
