George R. Thompson

George Roy Thompson, 80, 316 S. Starr Ave., died Thursday morning at Burlington Medical Center.

Born Dec. 4, 1905, at Abington, Va., he was the son of Jasper and Ella Nardises White Thompson.

He married Clara Ethel Dorson in October 1927; she died in 1952. He married Geneva McCash in Denver, Colo.

Mr. Thompson was a pipefitter for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Clara; three daughters, Juanita Myers, Keosauqua, Ella Burns, Bonaparte, and Alice McCumber, Hyampom, Calif.; three brothers, Jasper and Leonard Thompson and Robert Hagie, all of Muscatine; one sister, Emma Shopie, Muscatine; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Robert Dodder officiating.

A memorial has been established for the First United Methodist Church.
