Maree Carter

Maree Carter, 84, of Stockport, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua.

Born Sept. 7, 1902, near Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Curtis H. and Evelyn Drew Teter. She married Allen Bruce Carter June 5, 1927, at Fort Madison; he died Jan. 26, 1970.

She lived her life in Hillsboro and Stockport communities. She was a graduate of the Mount Pleasant High School and the Des Moines University. She taught school at Polo, Mo., and Prairie Corner School in Van Buren County.

She was a member of the Stockport Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, and the L.L.G. Club

Surviving are three sons, Robert, Ann Arbor, Mich., William, Stockport, Richard, Des Moines; two daughters, Ramona Clark, Stockport, and Barbara Carter, San Rafael, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pedick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.

Service for Mrs. Carter will be 10:30 Saturday at the Stockport Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Butt officiating. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Stockport Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
