B. Rains rites in Illinois

PEKIN, Ill. - Bennie T. Rains, 82, of Pekin, Ill., died at 1:23 p.m. July 22 in Pekin Memorial Hospital. Services were held July 25 at Woolsey Funeral Home with burial in Glendale Memorial Gardens at Pekin, Ill.

Rains was born Oct. 16, 1903 in Fairfield, the son of Columbus Dondiego Merritt and Marietta Faw Rains. He married Katherine Hunter Aug. 29, 1927 in Fairfield. She died Jan. 24, 1983. He served in the Navy from 1919 to 1925, and had worked at Corn Products Corporation International for 38 years, retiring in November, 1965. He was a member of the Second Reformed Church and Pekin Lodge 126, AF and AM.

Surviving are a son, two daughters, all of Pekin, Ill; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews in the Fairfield and Birmingham areas.
