MELROSE - Ray Hannam, 96, of Melrose died at 2:30 a.m. July 26, 1986, at Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
He was born Aug. 9, 1889, in Melrose to Henry and Ella McDonald Hannam. He farmed in the Melrose area most of his life. He married Anna Fitzgerald on Feb. 20, 1912, in Melrose. She died Aug. 6, 1972.
He is survived by three sons, Eugene of Keosauqua, Bill of Ottumwa and Henry of Des Moines; a daughter, Helen Sullivan of Albia; 19 grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles of Omaha, Neb., and Leo of Arlington, Va.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patricks's Church at Melrose, the Revs. Ernest Braida and M.J. Brotherson officiating. Burial will be in St. Patricks' Cemetery in Melrose.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at Gilbert Funeral in Albia. Visitation is open at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to his church.
