Robert D. Billingsley

Robert D. Billingsley, son of Howard and Zeffa Nichols Billingsley, was born May 12, 1923 near Hillsboro and departed this life the afternoon of Monday, August 18, 1986 at his home near Bonaparte, at the age of 63.

He married Katherine Lammert September 3, 1943 in Marshalltown. They farmed in the Hillsboro and Bonaparte communities.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Howard of Mt. Sterling and Wayne of Farmington; four daughters, Dorothy Shanstrom, Burlington, Joyce Weaver and Kathy Meyer, Bonaparte, and Lea Ann at home, 12 grandchildren and his mother of Winfield. Also surviving are three sisters, Opal Hartley, Salem, Eva Lee, Olds, and Barbara Miller, New London; five brothers, John, Mt. Pleasant, Walter, Fairfield, Floyd, Oquawka, Illinois, Raymond, Mt. Pleasant, and Kenneth, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

His father, a sister, a brother and a grandson preceded him in death.

Bob served in the United States Marines during World War II and was a member of John Richard Hoaglin Post No. 610, American Legion at Hillsboro.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 21, 1986 at 1:30 p.m. in the Hillsboro Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Newman and Robert Hambright officiating. Interment will be in Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
