John Stanley Loomis, 80, 909 Fairview Drive, died at 8:05 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995 at Jefferson County Hospital.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery near Douds.

The service for John Stanley "Stan" Loomis, 80, 909 Fairview Drive, who died at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995, at Jefferson County Hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery near Douds. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church Elevator Fund.
Loomis was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Selma, the son of John F. and Josephine May Schlotter Loomis. He grew up in the Douds community and graduated from Douds High School in 1933. On June 11, 1937, he married Wilma Stump in Davenport. They lived in Chicago for 10 years, moving to Fairfield in 1946.
A retired tool and die maker, he had worked for Fairfield Engineering, J and B Plastics and Plexco. He was a member of First Christian Church and the Fairfield Elks Lodge. Favorite pasttimes were woodworking, bowling, golf and fishing, and activities involving his family.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Shirley Weber of Douds; a son, Richard of Bettendorf; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A brother, Glen, preceded him in death.
