Kayle M. Dodds, 83, 1007 W. Briggs Ave., died at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1991, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Malone officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Fairfield Public Library.

Dodds was born Jan. 29, 1908, in Pierceville, the son of William Van Meter and Olive Teal Dodds. He attended the rural Van Buren School system and had lived in the Fairfield community for more than 60 years. He married Verna Morris on Sept. 4, 1929, in Muscatine. He was a foundry employee at Iowa Malleable Iron Co. for 43 years before retiring in 1973 and was a past president and 50-year member of the Eagles Lodge 1927.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, June Girard of Lutz, Fla., Marilyn Boley of Birmingham, M. Kaylene Wingate of Bonaparte; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A brother, Eberly and five sisters, Sidney Scott, Beatrice Boley, Grace Detrick, Twila Short and Willa Kerr preceded him in death.
