BONAPARTE- The funeral of William Blackburn, 89, former Bonaparte town marshal, was held this afternoon at Center Chapel southwest of Bonaparte. Burial was in Center Chapel cemetery.
Mr. Blackburn died of a heart attack Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Austin Perkins, east of Keosauqua, where he had been spending the winter. He had been in poor health several years.
He was married to Mary Eliza Wolfe, who died in 1946. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. [Jennie] Perkins and Mrs. Phil [Nellie]Strong of Cantril; a brother, Walter Blackburn of Keosauqua; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

William (Uncle Willie) Blackburn was my great-great uncle. He was born in Van Buren County on November 15, 1867 and died March 5, 1957.
