Naomi McHargue

Naomi Oletha McHargue, 63, Route 1, Fairfield, Iowa died Tuesday, July 15, 1986 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Born June 29, 1923, in Mount Sterling, she was the daughter of Arthur and Nora Bell Wallingford McCracken. She married James R. Carter, November 24, 1948. She later married William McHargue July 10, 1970, in Memphis, Missouri.

She had lived in the Fairfield community for 25 years after moving from Keosauqua. She was a homemaker and a member of Bonaparte Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Rebekah Lodge No. 96, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary No. 6, and the Van Buren Genealogical Society.

Surviving are her parents, Farmington; her husband; one son, John Carter, Hudson, Florida; two stepdaughters, Tana Moser, Okinawa, Japan and Tammy John, Olathe, Kansas; one stepson, William J. McHargue II, Burlington; two sisters, Noreene Schmitt, Farmington and Virginia Muntz, Fort Madison; three grandchildren and one stepgrand-daughter.

Services for Mrs. McHargue were held Friday, July 18, 1986 at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Burial was in Bonaparte Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Van Buren Genealogical Society.
