Roy J. Lowenberg

DONNELLSON - Roy John Lowenberg, Sr., 87, Donnellson, died at 5:40 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, at the Donnellson Manor Care Center.

Mr. Lowenberg was born June 20, 1898, at New Boston, Iowa, and was a lifelong Donnellson area resident. He was owner-operator of the Lowenberg Mobile Station and was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, both of Donnellson.

On Feb. 13, 1921, in Donnellson, he married Louise Eyler, who preceded him in death May 5, 1944. On Aug. 18, 1948, at Farmington, he married Margaret Burke Driscoll, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Roy Lowenberg, Jr., Donnellson; four step-sons, John Driscoll, Argyle, Jim Driscoll, Las Vegas, Nev., Tom Driscoll, Donnellson, and Francis, Marengo, Iowa; four step-daughters, Mary Knox, Donnellson, Marge Hayes, Palmyra, Mo., Theresa Bentzinger, Fort Madison, and Patsy Hirschler, Las Vegas; five sisters, Lillian Trump, and Verda Loges, both of Donnellson, Minnie Lowenberg, Fort Madison, and Elma White and Mildred Lowenberg, both of Keokuk; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, 24 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, a great grandchild, two step daughters, three step great grandchildren. His parents were John P. and Emma Weber Lowenberg.

The body is at the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Donnellson, where final rites will be at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. J. Winfred Stoerker will officate(officiate). Burial will be in the Evangelical cemetery, Donnellson.

The family will beet friends at the Hofbauer Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial is being established with the St. Paul United Church of Christ. Contributions may be made at the funeral home.
