Edgar S. Smith

Edgar S. Smith, 71, of Cantril, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Born April 29, 1915, in Cantril, he was the son of Chauncy G. and Effie Ann Cochran Smith. He married Dora Canfield on Nov. 26, 1931, at Memphis, Mo.

He was a graduate of the Cantril High School. He had operated a truck and was employed by the Cantril Implement Company for several years. He was a member of the Cantril United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Dora; one daughter, Geraldine Robinson, Keosauqua; one brother, Jack, Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Smith will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cantril United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andrew Rubenking and the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established for the heart fund. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
