CAHRITON - Lloyd "Pete" Chaplin, 74, of Chariton died June 3, 1986, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines after suffering a heart attack at his home Sunday.

Gertrude Chaplin, 58, of Chariton died June 5, 1986, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines where she had been a patient the past six weeks.

He was born April 2, 1912, in Troy. An Army veteran of World War II he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles Lodge. He was employed as general manager of Yocom farms near Chariton for many years.

She was born April 16, 1928, in Milton. She was the head bartender at the Eagles Club in Chariton for we years, retiring last fall.

They are survived by a son, Thomas W. of Winchester, Va.; a daughter Barb Williams, of Chariton; four grandchildren. He is survived by five brothers including Vern of Bloomfield; and three sisters. She is survived by four brothers and four sisters.

The service will be 1:30 p.m. today at Fielding Funeral Home, the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Memorials have been established in their names to the Eagles Lodge in Chariton and the Iowa Heart Fund.
