Margaret Carr

ELDON - Margaret I. Carr, 76, of Eldon died May 15, 1986, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield following a heart attack.

She was born Oct. 4, 1909, in Selma to Harry and Carrie Duke Bates. She spent most of her life in the Eldon area, with the exception of 16 years when she was employed by the State Hospital in East Moline, Ill., as a nurses' aide. She was a member of United Methodist Church, and Rebekah Lodge of Eldon. She married Lester W. Carr on Feb. 12, 1930, in Ottumwa.

She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Doris Jean Winzenburg of Waterloo, Joanne Temple of Loveland, Colo., Alice Fisher of Pleasantville and Patty Dyekunskas of Green Rock, Ill.; two sons, Donald of Willspoint, Texas and Robert of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Cecile Lasley of Red Bluff, Calif., Mabel Northup of Gerber, Calif., Helen Tiller of Charleston, S.C., and Le Ama Tallman of Floris; and four brothers, Milton Bates of Eldon, Ernest of Douds, Bruce of Selma and Maynard of Chico, Calif.

The service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon, the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the Eldon Rescue Unit or her church.
