Delbert Sayre rites Thursday

KEOSAUQUA - Delbert E. Sayre, 85, Keosauqua, died at 10:50 p.m. Monday at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington. Friends may call at their convenience. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Sayre was born Oct. 19, 1900 in Washington, the son of Frederick and Estabell Beemblossom Sayre. He farmed, operated Sayre's Market at Keosauqua, and did truck farming. He married Dorothy Voight May 11, 1935 at Ft. Madison. They lived in Washington until moving to Keosauqua in 1941.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Betty Thomas, Cantril, Irene Grubbs, Douds; two sons, David and Richard, both of Keosauqua; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard, Washington, and a sister, Ethel Puls, Tampa, Fla. A grandson, a great-grandson, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Christian Church.
