Guy W. Fry services Friday

Guy W. Fry, 86, Route 3, Fairfield, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, Ottumwa.

Earlier Fry had suffered a ruptured abdominal aneurysm, which caused him to black out while driving on Highway 34 in Fairfield. His car struck another vehicle, but he was not injured in the 9:55 a.m. accident. He was taken by ambulance to Jefferson County Hospital and transferred to the Ottumwa hospital, where he died in surgery for repair of the aneurysm.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Stockport United Methodist Church with the Rev. Duane Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. Workman Masonic Lodge 634 will conduct Masonic rites at 7 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home. Family visitation will follow. Memorials have been established to Stockport United Methodist Church and Stockport Lions Club.

Guy was born April 4, 1899 in Jefferson County, the son of S. Warren and Ella May Stout Fry. He married Helen R. McWhirter Oct. 4, 1922. She died Oct. 9, 1970. He had lived his entire life in Jefferson County, where he farmed in Cedar Township until his retirement. He was an active member of Stockport Lions Club, Workman Masonic Lodge 634, and was a past patron of Chapter 544, Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are a son, Glen of Soap Lake, Wash.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one brother, Chester Fry of Eagle Grove. Two sons and a sister preceded him in death.
